About Dan - Dan Selstad ATC

Dan Selstad began his career working with the sports teams at SDSU during college. He worked with football rugby and track and field.

After graduation he began working at UCSD for the department of orthopedics. Over the next 10 years he was involved with direct patient care and physical therapy and research. This is where Dan met Dr. Mike Leahy who developed the Active release technique.

He was in one of the first groups ever trained in Active release, and did one of the first studies on active release techniques on overuse upper extremity injuries. The study was published in the Journal of Occupational Medicine in 1998.

He started his own business in 1998 doing Active release on the side. By 2000 he decided to leave UCSD and pursue active release techniques full-time. Since then he has worked with many professional teams, including the Lakers, Chargers, and San Diego State Aztecs.

Dan has been with the Sheppard Spine & Sport group since 2000.
